Dear Chris
You’ll think me a silly one not sending thanks for your photo but have just discovered your letter written ten days ago but not posted, but hope this will be ‘better late than never’.
I think that your former picture is a better one of you. You did get your moustache up to take a trick and did you do it? You have got awfully thin on it since last we saw each other. Has she gone back on you, you’ll say what nonsense Minnie has put, but now I’ll commence to talk sense.
Kate enjoyed her visit to Melbourne grandly and called on Chris Tatham. Of course he did not know her at first but soon told him who she was and took her out to see his wife and the three little ones. Kate was quite charmed with her circles. The eldest girl is a pretty child – in fact all have good looks. The boy’s name is Robert but perhaps you know all this by letters from him. She had quite a lovely time of it quite sorry to come back.
We all have colds for this weather is awful. Mother is not well and Father also. He has such queer turns at times and your humble servant is much better to what she was a little while ago only a lively cold caught afresh on last Friday night for Kate and self went to a ball at the ???? Hill and came home in the early hours in the morning. A special train was put on. It was a very good floor and had some nice waltzes and it was good music which everyone likes.
The week before last Mother and us went to hear the organ recital it is grand but I like the soft pieces the best by far. It attracts a crowd each time. The Centennial Hall is a grand building. I went over the Town Hall a few weeks ago and up the tower – every convenience and the kitchen lovely.
You don’t deserve me to write so much for yours as the saying is short and sweet. I read in the paper last night a dance at Croydon – were you there?
Jeanie is not very well for her neck is troubling her again. Nola is not well – the effect of married life, and had a letter from her asking Kate to go up. She is quite ready but now Nola ???? if she wants one of us will ???? for us to go up to her.
Of course when I have my photo you’ll have mine. We are soon going to have it taken so you won’t be forgotten.
And now as I want to write to Nola will say good night for now. ‘Tis pretty late so with love from all to you, and the same from me to you both.
I remain, Yours affectionately
Minnie G Korff
One of these days you can send me a nugget. Don’t forget.
