My dear Chris
We got home on the 11th March, a capital time of 37 days to Algoa Bay. Were 12 days east of the Cape laced with westerly gales and calms alternatively.
All are well. You will be having nice cool weather nowand I hope will make a good season of it financially, and be able to put away some ??? next wet season.
I have wired home from here in reply to one from D&M saying I resign on my return. They will keep something back for the ship, so that’s settled. I shall be sorry to part from her after 21 years connection.
I hope you are doing something good with the Croydon (Queensland No 2) and will be able to float it and sell it as you suggested.
Be sure and send me a letter now and then if only a short one, and put me in for a few hundreds as soon as possible.
I have to settle off Jessie and Jean this summer.
Archie joins me in caring regards to yourself, and tell Alec that Mater sent his letter here to me. He is back with you I hope now.
Ever your loving father,
J A Elmslie
