My dear Katie and Chris

Thank you both so much for the unexpected present you so kindly sent me. I do think it good of you thinking of me. I am going to buy a little brooch as I lost one Alice and Elaine gave me and it is so useful. ???? last as I can show it you when you come back.

We do envy you having the lovely sea breeze here – we are nearly turned to oil. The heat is awful. It gets worse every day.

Aunt Nellie took me to a very good concert at Poplar yesterday afternoon and ???? ???? to do with it. It was for the sailors and soldiers relief fund. Afterwards we went and had tea with Mr & Miss Clark. Elsie will feel tired today I expect – she went to see Evelyn Millard married then rushed back to the concert and left at 4.30 for the London Hospital prize giving and garden party.

On Wednesday Elsie and I had a day shopping – we did enjoy ourselves – Regent St, Oxford St, Brompton Rd and I can’t tell you where else. We had lunch at Harrods Stores – it was my first visit there. What a fine place it is. Elsie came back with me to dinner. After she had gone Frank arrived – he had about fine minutes here and just caught the last train.

I do hope you are feeling better Katie and got over the sea-sickness you dreaded so. ???? little sister is delighted with the doll without eyes – christened it (Georgie) at once the horse is to go the next holidays.

Aunt Nellie will have told you she went to spend the week end at Archie’s.

I was sorry not to see Noel when he came but I had promised to go with Elsie and Lillie and he only let us know in the morning he was coming.

The people are moving in upstairs today – they have a very proper looking servant. We are very glad to have the last of the work people, the noise was very bad.

There is no news. I don’t wonder at Kenwyn being made so much of, how pleased the friends will be with him in Australia.

With love to you both and again many thanks – kisses to the boy.

Your affectionate Cousin

Bessie Tatham
