Gentlemen,
I beg to send in my resignation, private affairs in the Australian Colonies rendering it necessary that I should do so.
I also ask to be allowed to work my way to Melbourne as a supernumerary officer on one of your ships, if convenient on the ss Indus sailing 27 September.
Hoping that this may meet with your approval and trusting I have given every satisfaction during my stay in your service.
