My dear Chris and Katie
It is good of you to send us such a nice present, thank you so much.
We are going up this afternoon to spend it.
I am glad you are having such good weather but what it will be in the Red Sea I don’t know. Here it is simply scorching.
Elsie and I went to see Evelyn Millard’s wedding yesterday – it was splendid. I never saw such decoration in any church. After it I went to the Academy ‘till six o’clock then went into the Park for half an hour to cool down, but came home with a splitting headache which has not quite gone yet.
Kenwyn will be a great pet on board, it will be very difficult to keep him from getting spoilt.
Noel came on Wednesday afternoon to say good-bye, he is going in the Oruy” on 3 August.
I suppose you will see the papers, the “Daily Telegraph” gives a long account of Evelyn Millard’s wedding. We got in the front pew of the gallery right over the church so had a splendid view of everybody. I never saw so many theatrical people together before. The bride’s train seemed to be silver g…..embroidered in diamonds! When she knelt at the altar rails it was three parts the length of the church. The church was hot!!!
The others will have told you all there is to tell so I need not repeat it.
Best love to you both, and kisses to Kenwyn.
Many thanks again for the present.
Alice
