Essilmont
5 June 1885
My dear Chris,
I am sending you a few more lines with the other letter. You will see by the date that I wrote that in May and this is June. Mama could not send my letter when she wrote, so Archie is sending it for me now.
Papa and Archie have arrived and they both look well – the latter has not altered at all. How are you dear? I hope you keep quite well and strong and also that you are happy. I wish you were nearer home so that you could come and see us. Do send me your photo Chris.
If Papa goes to sea again Mama and the four little ones are going with him. Mama says she will not stay at home by herself again. They will either sell or let this house then I expect.
We are having such beautiful weather just now.
Mrs Bissett died a little while ago. I pity her family very much, we none of us thought she would live long. Lizzie is teaching at the same place Mary also at another, ***** is living with an aunt and some lady is taking care of the house and children in Bedford. Mabel Shipwith is to be married this month to a Mr Leslie – he comes from London.
Now dear I must finish. I will try and get some more news for you soon, and write to you again. Do write to me soon.
Good bye for the present.
All join me in much love.
Believe me, Dear Chris
Your loving Sister,
Edie
