My dear Chris
You see I have now moved away from the ship and am lodging in the same place as Chris Tatham.
Pa got me into the same place as Chris, Rocke Tompsitt’s, but he did not get me into the right part so I have to live the whole day among the most horrible smells and do work which I do not like namely making the drugs. I shall get away from it soon. I am sure this firm wants more hands because they work overtime every single night for the whole evening,
I hope you will write to me soon and tell me something about the state of things up there and when you will be a little more settled.
I will write again in a few days.
I remain, your affectionate Brother
A B Elmslie
