My dear Chris
Your letter of 24 June has only just come to hand, an hour or two before the mail goes.
I have been away from town for a week directing the moving of our household from Bedford to 19 Anerley Park, London S E. This has been completed.
I went on to see Rawson and have shown him your letter and prospectus, but as the time is so short nothing can be done at once. Enquiry must be made to find how the thing can be done. I merely consult him as a friend and they may be able to advance the thing but until I make further enquiry I would not leave it in their hands.
I’ll only send you this hurried note to say that I will do my utmost to advance your wishes in this matter. Will write you fully next mail or possibly send a wire.
We are all well. Have not heard from Alec lately – I hope you can have him with you soon. Archie is now Chief, Baker is in the Clyde and Sansom in the Shannon.
We have a very nice house at Anerley and although the moving is expensive we are all glad to get away from Bedford. I have got very tired of the long journey
Your loving Father
James A Elmslie
PS: Most likely I will come out in the ship again, but may leave her out there and put Northey in charge, and come on to see you. Have a letter waiting me by 12 December at Melbourne.
