Table Bay

My dear Chris

We got here on 11 March a capital time of 37 days to Algoa Bay. Were twelve days east of the Cape lashed with westerly gales and calms alternatively. All are well.

You will be having nice cool weather now and I hope will make a good season of it financially, and be able to put away some ???? next wet season.

I have wired home from here in reply to one from D&M saying I resign on my return. They will keep nothing back for the ship, so that’s settled. I shall be sorry to part from her after a 21 years. ????

I hope you are doing something good with the Croydon ???? ???? and will be able to float it and sell it as you suggested. Be sure and send me a letter now ???? if only a short one, and ???? in for a few hundreds as soon as possible. I have to settle off ???? this summer.

Archie joins me in sending regards to yourself, and also tell Alex I sent his letter here home. He is back with you I hope now.

Ever your loving Father

J A Elmslie
