Dear Chris
Thank you for the £2 that you sent me.
I hope you will be coming home soon.
The ship arrived last week on the 4th.The two boys and Mamma went to meet it. Archie brought a great many birds home but he has sold them nearly all.
We were going to have a lot of the aunts to dinner yesterday and after dinner we were going to see the fireworks, but it was so wet that Papa had to put it off. We are staying at home from school this morning because it is so wet. The weather is dreadful – it is just like April for it gets raining on and off the whole day7. The boys were to have a cricket match and now it is so wet that they will not be able to finish it. They were playing the match against the old boys – a good many of them are grown up and I should not think they will be able to beat them. Mr Elkin gave the boys a very nice bat.
Edie and May are coming over soon and if you come too it will be very nice.
I suppose by the time you get this letter Alex will have got his camera.
Believe me, your loving Sister
Coral
