My dear Chris

I just see that the mail leaves this afternoon so must write you a few lines.

It seems months since you left and I see the steamer is only due at Townsville tonight. I hope you are having nice weather, I expect you are.

We are going on just the same – no servant yet. It’s sickening and there does not seem to be any chance of getting one.

There was a mosquito in Baby’s bed last night and it had bitten him several times on the chest. I am so cross about it.

After everyone had gone on Tuesday I did miss you so much and felt so lonely and do still. I do wish you hadn’t to be away so long, it is so quiet here.

Mary has just been over. I gave her a wire to you to give to Alec. It was from some man in Gladstone – Morton Macdonald wanted to know when you were going to Gladstone.

I have had several visitors each day.

I must give this to Kenwyn to post, so cannot write any more.

I am looking forward to a letter from you. I hope you will with every opportunity. Baby is always talking to you through imaginary telephones – he says “hello Dadda come ‘ome soon”.

With love and kisses from us both

Your loving wife

Katie
