Morven
Friday morning
My dear Chris
I was so glad to get your letter this afternoon.
Baby was so well yesterday, laughing and playing and lying wide awake, not drowsy at all.
You would laugh to see him take his food, his appetite has come and he was ravenous all day. You had only to mention food and out went the comfy and he took a spoonful of food. But he would not swallow it until the comfy was put back in his mouth, then out it went again for the next mouthful. He drank such a lot.
Today the doctor is going to let him have food. I told the doctor we were not going on the 18th, and he said I lifted a weight off his mind – as you said you must go now and he knew it would be so much nicer for us to travel together that he said Baby could go but he says he is better for waiting here longer. As Baby was so much better yesterday, I felt sorry we were not going. Nurse says she is sure he could have gone.
I have written to Gracie and addressed it to Bank Street West End – ask Mother if that is right because I want her to get it.
I am so looking forward to tomorrow and seeing you. Will you ask Mother to give you those two suits of Ken’s pyjamas made out of those coloured ones of yours to bring down, as he gets so hot. Also ask Mother if she has heard anything about the chancellor’s cottage.
With love and kisses
Your affectionate Wife
Katie
Also bring any bits of that pink jephyr(?) for baby frock if there are any about. Ask Mother and tell her I think there are some pillow cases for Baby’s small pillow in the children’s chest of drawers.
