81 St Mary’s Mansions
2 September 1906.
My dear Chris:
You write telling of the accident you met with on the return journey. Came at Sea View just before we left. We were glad to know that you were able to repair in such a way as to get home, although very late.
The heat must have been very exhausting for you where so much care is required in directing a car on a long journey.
Hinton and May were not able to come here.
Willie came on Friday evening and Noel went back with him for a short time.
The heat in the train on Friday was very trying and we were a long time on our run to the station
Archie must have been even worse off than we were as he had to go to Victoria and return to Sutton being on the top story of the flat.
The heat yesterday and today was 93 degrees and 94 degrees – which it is now. You will have the advantage of the tree shelter in the garden, but all the same it must be quite as trying as the heat you had on your journey home.
I hope Katie and the boys are keeping in fit condition – hope to come and pay them a visit soon.
Meantime I will look in at the office when the heat goes off a little.
With my love to all of you.
I am , yours affectionately,
Jas A Elmslie
